Job Title: Cybersecurity Specialist

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled cybersecurity professional to join our team and contribute to protecting critical infrastructure and data within local communities.

  • This role involves monitoring, assessing, and maintaining the security of council systems and networks to ensure the safety of sensitive information and critical operations.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Monitoring and analysing network traffic to identify potential security threats.
  2. Investigating and responding to security incidents and breaches.
  3. Conducting vulnerability assessments and penetration testing.
  4. Implementing and maintaining security policies, procedures, and protocols.
  5. Ensuring compliance with cybersecurity standards and relevant legislation.
  6. Collaborating with IT teams to strengthen system defences and mitigate risks.
  7. Providing security training and awareness to internal teams.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in cybersecurity, threat detection, and incident response.
  • Strong knowledge of security frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST, and Essential Eight.
  • Proficiency with security tools, SIEM systems, and vulnerability management platforms.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in high-pressure environments.
