Job Overview

A.I.R Recruitment is a leading recruitment agency based in Newcastle, seeking a skilled Precision Machinist Operator to join a reputable manufacturing company. The ideal candidate will have a trade qualification in Fitting and Machining or equivalent experience, along with proficiency in using automated machinery and engineering measurement tools.

About the Role
  • This permanent full-time position offers a competitive salary of $30-$40 per hour, plus a 17.5% weekly tool allowance.
  • The successful candidate will work Monday to Friday hours with opportunities for overtime and career development/training.
Key Responsibilities

The Precision Machinist Operator will be responsible for accurately reading and understanding technical drawings, specifications, and supplier catalogues, as well as communicating effectively with internal staff.

  • Read and understand instructions, technical drawings, specifications, and supplier catalogues.
  • Accurately use Ball Gauges and Micrometres.
  • Maintain working relationships with other internal staff.
  • Follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Work in a team-based environment.
  • Work independently with minimal direction and show initiative to achieve quality outcomes.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, the successful candidate will possess:

  • A trade qualification in Fitting and Machining or equivalent.
  • A forklift license.
  • Experience using automated machinery (CNC operated machines).
  • Experience using engineering measurement tools (micrometres, dial indicators etc.).
  • Safe, accurate, and efficient use of hand tools and general workshop equipment.
  • Adherence to safe work practices.
  • Overhead crane use – knowledge of load limits and correct load practices.
