Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Sustainability Manager to join our team at Anglo American Plc. As a key member of our Environment team, you will be responsible for leading the management of environmental functions at our Dawson Mine in Queensland, Australia.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a small team of environmental professionals to achieve and maintain compliance with all relevant environmental authorities, legislation, and regulations.
  • Provide guidance and service to operational personnel and relevant external stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of the Environmental Plan, including compliance to corporate and legislative requirements.
  • Manage the Environmental Management System (EMS) across multi-site boundaries and ensure governance and adherence to EMS provisions.
  • Develop and implement environmental programs and initiatives to minimize the environmental impact of our operations.
  • Coordinate and manage all environmental and heritage matters, including environmental monitoring and inspections, environmental rehabilitation programs, and assistance with preparation and management of the environmental budget.
  • Lead environmental incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, community groups, and industry partners.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in environmental management, preferably in the resources or mining industry.
  • Leadership skills and ability to coach, mentor, and support employee development.
  • Sound working knowledge of environmental management systems, including ISO 14001.
  • Good computer literacy, including aptitude with the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Qualifications in an environmental discipline, such as environmental science, environmental management, or a related field.
