About the Opportunity
Life Without Barriers is seeking a Family Support Practitioner to fill two 12-month max term contracts, one full-time and the other part-time (5 day fortnight/0.5FTE). The positions are based out of our Milton office.
This hybrid role involves working both from the office and home, with the majority of work taking place in client homes.
Key Responsibilities
- Establishing supportive relationships with children, young people, and their parents/caregivers.
- Supporting the development of skills in children, young people, and parents to achieve safety and stability goals.
- Delivering group work with clients including parenting programs and victims and perpetrators of domestic violence.
- Liaising with stakeholders and participating in meetings to ensure effective collaboration.
- Conducting assessments, creating action plans, and coordinating review meetings to promote positive outcomes.
- Adhering to organizational policies, recording client information, and reporting incidents.
- Upholding the organization's values and promoting a safe, abuse-free environment.
- Supporting the mission of the organization and complying with relevant legislation and requirements.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Degree in Social Work, Social Science, Psychology or Human Services.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities for relationship-building.
- Deep empathy and understanding of children, young people, and families.
- Knowledge of domestic violence and family violence frameworks (Safe and Together knowledge highly regarded).
- Skilled in assessment, planning, and case management.
- Exceptional attention to detail and record-keeping.
- Prior experience in child and family support, counselling, or social work.
- Proven history of working with individuals with experiences of trauma.
