Head Coach Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Coach to lead our NBL1 Women's team. This is an exceptional opportunity for a talented individual to join our organization and make a significant impact in the world of women's basketball.

About the Role
  • Program Leadership:
    • Lead our NBL1 Women's program with a clear vision and strategy, aligning with our organizational values and goals.
    • Develop and implement standards around professionalism, accountability, and on-court performance.
    • Foster a culture that inspires junior players to progress into higher levels of competition while delivering competitive results.
  • Recruitment & Roster Management:
    • Identify, recruit, and build a high-performing roster for the 2026 NBL1 East season, working closely with our Head of Basketball.
    • Secure a top-level Australian professional player to anchor the roster.
    • Balance the roster to achieve success while providing a genuine pathway for Illawarra juniors.
  • Coaching & Game Management:
    • Attend all NBL1 training sessions and games, leading team preparation and scouting.
    • Mentor and develop team members individually and in groups.
    • Develop systems that suit the playing group and maximize competitive success.
  • Operations:
    • Take responsibility for team operations, deadlines, administration, and compliance.
    • Lead coaching staff with clear role allocations.
  • Community Engagement:
    • Represent our organization professionally in the community and media.
    • Work with youth programs to maintain a seamless female player pathway.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated excellence in leadership, strategy, and communication in a high-performance environment.
  • Proven ability to recruit and retain talent, manage rosters, and build balanced teams.
  • Experience coaching at NBL1 or higher level, with strong knowledge of current basketball systems.
  • Strong organizational skills and willingness to work within our structures.
