**Job Summary:**

The Senior Legal Counsel - Regulatory role is a senior management position within Business NSW. You will work closely with the General Counsel and Company Secretary, other in-house lawyers, and relevant executives in relation to regulatory and compliance matters.

This position requires substantial experience working at a senior level in-house (at least 10+ year PQE) and expertise in providing regulatory advice, dealing with healthcare regulators, and developing compliance frameworks and processes.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Advise business units and executive leadership teams on regulatory compliance matters, particularly focusing on NDIS, aged care, and health care regulation.
  • Lead and manage risk management and compliance frameworks, policies, processes, and associated legal training.
  • Draft reports for consideration of the Executive Leadership Team, Board, and relevant Board committees.
  • Assist with mandatory notifications to regulators, including the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission, and NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.
  • Support and advise business units in connection with enquiries or investigations by a regulator.
  • Assist with employee and clinical investigations.
  • Manage project work as required.
  • Brief and manage external counsel.
  • Develop and maintain core legal precedents for use by business units.
  • Provide sound, pragmatic, and commercial legal advice.
  • Support the management of disputes and litigation involving Group companies.
