About the Role

The Head of Engineering leads a team of approximately 40-50 engineers, across the Bank Reconciliation and Inventory portfolios. Both areas have critical delivery commitments and can help drive growth across Xero.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead multiple portfolio domains and ensure teams are aligned to Xero's product and engineering strategic objectives and priorities.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager (GM) of Engineering to proactively manage the risk of delivery and drive consistency in the way we deliver.
  • Ensure teams are aware and aligned with Xero engineering standards, compliance, and best practices.
  • Measure and monitor team performance, identifying issues quickly and actively managing them to resolution.
  • Work with engineering leaders to provide training and support to teams, balancing working styles, experience, capability, well-being, and career aspirations.
Requirements
  • Experience managing teams in product or technology companies.
  • Ideal experience as a leader of leaders.
  • Ability to navigate conflict in an open, positive, and proactive way.
  • Ability to plan and implement strategic change, getting buy-in from stakeholders.
  • Thought leadership and a global perspective.
  • Excellent grasp of modern software and engineering practices.
