We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Allied Health Assistant to join our team. This role involves working in an inpatient subacute occupational therapy service, assisting Allied Health Professionals in delivering best practice, patient-centred clinical care.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the goals and priorities of occupational therapy within a hospital setting, as well as excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
Responsibilities- Assist Allied Health Professionals in delivering best practice, patient-centred clinical care.
- Support smooth Allied Health operations through non-clinical duties.
- Perform work within the AHA scope of practice under delegation and supervision of Allied Health Professionals (AHP).
- Minimum qualification: Allied Health Assistance Certificate III (or equivalent), Grade 2.
- Experience in an acute or sub-acute inpatient setting (student experience included).
- Understanding of the goals and priorities of occupational therapy within a hospital setting.
- Ability to provide individual therapy and education to patients as prescribed by the occupational therapist.
- Understanding of normal development and medical conditions relevant to the role.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills through direction and feedback.
- Proficiency with a range of software applications (word processing, equipment database, ordering and invoicing).
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position.
- Demonstrated problem solving and organisational skills.
