Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated Animal Welfare Specialist to lead and support best practices in animal care and use across our teaching and research programs.

This vital role requires you to be the go-to expert for animal welfare advice, working closely with staff and researchers to ensure ethical and responsible treatment of animals.

You will help shape policies, provide technical guidance, and promote a culture of continuous improvement and compassion.

The successful candidate will support the Animal Ethics Committee with expert advice, help investigate and manage adverse events, and contribute to training and education that embeds animal welfare into everything we do.

About You:

  • A degree in veterinary science or postgraduate qualifications in animal behaviour and welfare is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of legislation and codes governing animal care and use is required.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across disciplines are necessary.
  • Committed to ethical practice, continuous improvement, and education.
  • A current Australian driver's license is also required.
