About the Onboarding and Connections Group:

This group manages AEMO's end-to-end process for connecting and registering generators into the National Electricity Market.

You will play a key role in connecting onshore and offshore wind, solar, hydro, batteries, and hydrogen projects to the NEM.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead small to medium connection projects from initiation through to full output operation.
  2. Provide expert technical advice and problem-solving on performance standards, stability, system strength, registration, and commissioning.
  3. Strengthen technical collaboration with clients and industry, ensuring issues are resolved constructively with a focus on outcomes.
  4. Support regulatory change and contribute to AEMO's strategic vision for integrating diverse generation and storage technologies.
  5. Mentor staff and engage stakeholders through clear, high-quality communication, building AEMO's reputation as a trusted partner.

Requirements:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or other discipline relevant to power systems analysis.
  • Solid experience in power systems analysis, with a degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Proven ability to lead technical teams and deliver small to medium projects with a pragmatic, service-oriented approach.
  • Strong expertise in generator connections, including performance assessment and issue resolution.
  • Skilled in negotiating complex technical issues across diverse stakeholders with competing priorities.
  • SOUND understanding of commercial, legal, and regulatory drivers in large-scale infrastructure and generation projects.
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
