Job Description

Role Summary:

The Australian Education Research Organisation (AERO) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Policy Analyst to join our team. As a key member of our Strategic Policy and Engagement team, you will play a critical role in developing strategies to support evidence-based policymaking in education.

About the Role:

The Senior Policy Analyst will work closely with the Director, Strategic Policy and Engagement to lead and oversee complex policy analysis initiatives. You will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing strategies to maximise the influence of AERO's research on system programs and policies.
  • Leading and managing the provision of high-quality policy advice on a wide variety of issues in education.
  • Preparing advice and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders that convey complex concepts and information on education topics.
  • Managing team members, including recruitment, performance development, and goal setting.
  • Leading and managing projects, including contract management, establishing and managing priorities, deliverables, timelines, budgets, and reporting.
  • Advising and supporting other AERO teams as required.
  • Leading the performance and professional development of team members.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications and/or extensive experience in public policy, public administration, education, education policy, and/or education management.
  • Excellent understanding of the Australian education landscape and policy frameworks.
  • Ability to effectively maintain productive working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience managing projects and delivering high-quality results in a timely manner.
