Forest Research Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced researcher to join our Forest Research Institute as a Research Fellow.

As a Research Fellow, you will contribute to applied research across forest supply chains, silviculture, and emerging forestry technologies. You will work on nationally significant projects, including through the Australian Forest and Wood Innovations Centre, engaging in collaborative and independent research that delivers real-world impact.

The successful candidate will have expertise in forestry, forest supply chains, or related technologies, with a solid grounding in research methods and a passion for translating scientific knowledge into practical, industry-relevant solutions.

You will be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively, committed to advancing sustainable forestry practices through innovative approaches, including digital tools and data-driven technologies.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and conducting rigorous, applied research projects that address real-world challenges in forest supply chains, silviculture, or forest management technologies;
  • Integrating digital and innovative technologies within your research, such as remote sensing, AI applications, or supply chain digitization;
  • Supervising honours and higher degree research students in topics related to forestry, supply chain management, or technology-driven forest innovation;
