About the Role
AECOM is seeking a dynamic and ambitious Senior Legal Counsel to join our Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) Legal Team in Melbourne. As a key member of our team, you will provide critical legal advice on high-stakes transactions, draft and negotiate key contracts, and tackle complex disputes head-on.
Key Responsibilities
- Contract Management
- Draft, review, and negotiate AECOM's project contracts, including consultancy services agreements, alliance, tender services, SaaS, PM and EPCM agreements, and related ancillary documentation.
- Provide ad-hoc legal advice regarding AECOM's project pursuits, including bid qualification and departure statements, probity and procurement, deal structuring, conflicts management, and other collateral matters.
- Project Support
- Assist with the preparation of internal project approvals.
- Engage with internal clients, including senior management and tender teams, during the delivery phase of projects.
- Review and manage contractual claims, and proactively manage, avoid, and resolve project-related disputes.
- Dispute Resolution
- Manage claims and disputes, including judicial and administrative litigation.
- Draft or settle internal and external communications with law firms, clients, and other stakeholders.
Requirements
- A tertiary qualification in law and admission to practice in Victoria.
- An understanding of infrastructure projects and government procurement processes.
- Previous experience in a top-tier law firm and/or in-house experience in a multinational consultant or contractor will be viewed favorably.
- Demonstrated track record of adding value to a diverse and dynamic business.
- An understanding of various procurement methods, including construct only, design and construct, ECI, and incentivized target cost models.
