About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Armoury Specialist to join our team within the Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (RAEME). This role involves applying technical skills in the workshop, as well as on domestic exercises, deployments, and humanitarian operations.
As an Armoury Specialist, you will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, modifying, and reconditioning a wide range of military weapon systems and equipment. This includes pistols, semi-automatic and fully automatic weapons, grenade launchers, and anti-armour weapons. You will also utilise your welding and machining skills to inspect and repair small engines, miscellaneous equipment, and pressurised systems such as fuel delivery equipment.
You will have the opportunity to expand your technical knowledge through a range of specialist courses covering equipment such as:
- Special Forces weapons
- Marine and diving equipment
- Army Watercraft
- Weapon systems of the Abrams Tank and other Armoured Fighting Vehicles
- Artillery
- Weapon systems mounted to Army helicopters such as the Dillon Minigun.
Your key responsibilities as an Armoury Specialist will include:
- Diagnostics and maintenance of the Army's fleet of weapons, including pistols, rifles, shotguns, machine guns, and grenade launchers.
- Diagnostics and maintenance of complex weapon systems, workshop equipment, miscellaneous equipment, and general engineering tasks.
- Collaboration with specialist teams on advanced armoured vehicle armament systems and artillery platforms.
- Safety and technical inspections on weapon systems and specialist equipment.
- General soldiering duties, such as manning defensive positions, patrolling, traffic control, camouflaging of vehicles and field equipment, and navigation.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will require strong technical skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. A salary of approximately $80,000-$120,000 per annum is available for this position, depending on experience.
