Greencross Vets is a highly regarded GP hospital and small animal referral service, providing specialist medical and surgical services in the country's heartland. Our team consists of experienced veterinarians with specialties in areas such as ophthalmology, orthopaedics, medicine, general surgery, and care for pocket pets.


We are seeking a Veterinary Director to join our team, bringing not only clinical expertise but also strong leadership and management abilities. This role is ideal for a veterinarian with at least 4 years of post-graduate experience, who is confident in clinical decision-making and managing a variety of cases.


In this position, you will use evidence-based diagnoses, therapies, and treatment plans, working independently while also having access to collaboration and mentorship opportunities. You'll be supported by a close-knit team of experienced colleagues and a wide-ranging specialist network, ensuring you always have access to the latest expertise and advice in the field.


Your Responsibilities



  • Provide clinical leadership, ensuring high standards of veterinary care
  • Diagnose, treat, and manage cases independently, with a focus on using evidence-based practices
  • Mentor and support junior veterinarians and nursing staff, fostering a collaborative learning environment
  • Work closely with other experienced veterinarians in the team, sharing knowledge and best practices
  • Handle a diverse caseload, from routine consultations to complex medical and surgical cases
  • Maintain strong communication with clients, ensuring they are fully informed about treatment options and care plans
  • Contribute to the growth and development of the hospital's services and reputation within the local community

About You



  • A Veterinary Science qualification from a university accredited by the Australasian Veterinary Boards' Council (AVBC) or completion of NAVLE, AVE, or equivalent examinations.
  • A minimum of 4 years of post-graduate clinical experience, with demonstrated leadership abilities and management skills.
  • Strong communication skills, with a desire to mentor junior staff and provide excellent client care.
  • Confidence in consulting, diagnosing, and treating companion animals independently.

Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per annum
