About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Assessment Officer to join our team at the NT Department of Environment, Parks and Water Security.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the protection of the Territory's unique environment by effectively implementing environmental impact assessments of development proposals.
  • Work with a passionate environmental impact assessment team to identify, critically analyze, and risk assess environmental impacts associated with development proposals.
  • Recommend environmental assessment and protection standards and safeguards, consistent with best practice environmental management.
  • Liaise with NT government agencies, development proponents, and other stakeholders to provide high-quality, efficient, and timely environmental and scientific advice.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in environmental science or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in environmental impact assessment, natural resource management, or environmental management.
  • Ability to interpret scientific information and convey complex information to a broad audience.
  • Highly developed written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, negotiate, problem-solve, and work independently.

The Environmental Assessment Unit (EAU) conducts environmental impact assessment functions of the Northern Territory Environment Protection Authority (NT EPA) under the Environment Protection Act 2019 (EP Act).
