Job OverviewThis is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about providing care and compassion to others. As an Embalmer, you will be responsible for preparing deceased individuals for funeral or cremation services, ensuring that all legal requirements are met with respect and dignity.
Key Responsibilities- Embalming and Mortuary Duties: You will prepare and embalm deceased individuals for interment or cremation in accordance with legal requirements and with utmost respect for the deceased.
- Utilization of Equipment: Properly and safely utilize embalming instruments and machinery in accordance with company guidelines.
- Mortuary Practices: Accept responsibility and apply the standards required for sound mortuary practices with emphasis on hygiene and lifting standards.
- Driving and Maintenance: Drive transfer vehicles, hearses, and other vehicles as required, and ensure general maintenance of the facility, including monitoring of stock levels.
- Paperwork and Compliance: File burial permits and complete all necessary paperwork related to the death process.
To succeed in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and qualifications:
- Care and Compassion: Ability to care for, help, and empathize with bereaved families.
- Mortuary Skills: Mortuary skills via in-house training.
- Sensitivity and Adaptability: Sensitivity to and the ability to comply with religious and secular requirements, and manual handling and lifting skills.
- Teamwork and Independence: Ability to work as part of a team and without direct supervision.
- Physical and Mental Health: In a fit state and psychological health to adequately perform manual handling, manage stress, and carry out other inherent requirements of the position.
- Comfort around Grief: Be at ease working with grieving families and the deceased.
- Licenses and Certifications: Possess a full unrestricted driver's license.
