The role of a skilled Diesel Fitter is critical to the operation and maintenance of heavy fleet equipment. Reporting to the Mobile Fleet Supervisor, this position is residential in Mount Isa and requires working a 7 on / 7 off, day and night shift roster.

We are seeking an experienced, results-focused and ambitious individual to join our team in a role that involves performing heavy fleet maintenance work, as well as breakdown repairs; undertaking planned maintenance tasks as instructed; project work as required; working both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary trade team; demonstrating a high standard of professional workmanship; and contributing to continuous improvement opportunities.

Responsibilities:
  1. Performing routine maintenance tasks, corrective repairs and breakdowns on heavy fleet equipment
  2. Undertaking planned maintenance tasks as instructed by supervisors or senior technicians
  3. Project work as required, including modifications and upgrades to existing equipment
  4. Working both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary trade team
  5. Demonstrating a high standard of professional workmanship at all times
  6. Contributing to continuous improvement opportunities through identifying and implementing process improvements
Requirements:

This role requires a Trade qualified Diesel Fitter with relevant experience in heavy fleet maintenance. The ideal candidate will possess excellent trouble-shooting & problem solving skills, flexible approach and adaptable to change with a high attention to detail, good time management skills and able to work well under pressure.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Trade qualified Diesel Fitter
  • High risk work licence, Working at Heights and Confined Space
  • Forklift licence, overhead gantry crane
  • Mining experience preferred but not essential
  • Excellent trouble-shooting & problem solving skills
  • Flexible approach and adaptable to change with a high attention to detail
  • Good time management skills and able to work well under pressure
