About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Cost Engineer to join our team as a key member of the Major Projects Team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in managing capital estimates and cost control across a portfolio of projects, including those with capital expenditures exceeding $250M.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead capital estimates and cost control for major projects, ensuring alignment with project standards and systems.
  • Implement cost control strategies in line with team direction and industry best practices.
  • Manage cost processes using CMS (GTS software) and other commercially available estimating tools.
  • Compile and review estimates, including MTOs, rates, and range analysis, to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Control project budgets, handling scope changes and costs per board-approved guidelines.
  • Reconcile end-of-month costs and accruals between CMS and SAP, ensuring financial accuracy and transparency.
  • Review contractor progress claims (PPCs) and assist with invoice approvals, ensuring timely and accurate payment.
  • Support preparation of weekly summaries and monthly portfolio reports, providing insights and recommendations for project improvement.

Key Criteria

  • Proven experience working on major projects (+$250M capital) in the mining or resource industry, preferably on the owner's side.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience across multiple projects in a portfolio, with a strong understanding of cost control processes and capital estimates.
  • Expertise in AACE Estimate Class 2 to 5 accuracy levels and the ability to compile/review these estimates.
  • Proficiency in CMS (GTS software), SAP, and commercially available estimating software, with a strong understanding of cost control processes and project forecasting.
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and provide excellent customer service.
