Position Overview

We are seeking an exceptional academic leader to fill the role of Professor of Social Work, focusing on education and research in regional and rural contexts. The successful candidate will take on a pivotal role within the School of Arts and Humanities, contributing to the advancement of social work education and the development of future professionals through impactful research and teaching.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide visionary academic leadership in the discipline of Social Work, encompassing teaching, research, and community engagement.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership on innovative course and research initiatives related to social justice and care.
  • Mentor junior faculty while maintaining a robust research agenda and contributing to curriculum development.
  • Work closely with course coordinators for the Bachelor and Master of Social Work programs.
  • Engage with the Director of the University Department of Rural Health to facilitate student and staff participation in health initiatives.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be an accomplished academic currently serving as an Associate Professor or Professor within the Australian higher education landscape, with a strong background in social work scholarship. A commitment to regional and rural education is essential, along with a passion for fostering inclusion and diversity in the field.

Selection Criteria

  • A PhD in social work or a closely related discipline, with eligibility for membership in the Australian Association of Social Workers.
  • Demonstrated excellence in leadership, research, teaching, engagement, and innovation.
  • Experience in social work practice within regional and rural settings is highly desirable.
