Job Title: Senior Principal Lawyer
Shape the future of justice in Queensland as a senior leader. You will work directly with the General Counsel, providing expert legal advice on complex employment, administrative, and government-wide matters that directly influence decision-making at the highest levels.
This is a senior leadership role at the heart of Queensland's justice system. You will deliver expert, impartial legal advice and oversee complex and sensitive matters with impact on high-level decision making across government.
Key Responsibilities:- Partner with the General Counsel, Crown Law, and external providers to ensure high-quality, value-for-money legal services.
- Provide strategic advice and manage sensitive litigation for senior leaders, particularly in employment and administrative law.
- Monitor legal developments, anticipate risks, and advise on emerging issues affecting the department.
- Review and endorse complex briefs and Cabinet submissions with legal implications.
- Lead and develop a talented team of lawyers, creating an engaged, capable and empowered workforce.
- Extensive post-admission experience, ideally in employment and/or administrative law.
- A strong track record of providing high-level legal advice in complex public sector or large-scale organisational settings.
- Strategic judgement, innovative thinking, and the ability to manage emerging legal and policy challenges.
- Proven leadership in managing people and resources to deliver high-quality outcomes.
- A Bachelor of Laws and admission (or immediate eligibility for admission) as a legal practitioner of the Supreme Court of Queensland are mandatory.
- A permanent, flexible role based in Brisbane, Queensland.
- Salary package: $166,623 plus leave loading and 12.75% employer superannuation contribution.
