Principal Lawyer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lawyer to join our Legal Services team at The University of Queensland. As a key member of our team, you will provide strategic and commercial legal advice to support the University's goals and objectives.

• Provide legal advice on a wide range of matters, including commercial, contractual, and student-related issues.
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including consultancy agreements, licenses, and nondisclosure agreements.
• Contribute to strengthening the knowledge and capacity of UQ staff regarding legal and regulatory frameworks.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal clients, team members, and external stakeholders.
• Assist in overseeing and managing legal services provided by external law firms and counsel.
• Contribute to the proactive identification and management of current and emerging legal risks and priorities for UQ.

We are looking for a highly adaptable and flexible legal professional with a minimum of 2-3 years of relevant post-admission experience. You will have strong expertise in commercial and contract law, coupled with proficiency in drafting legal documents and resolving complex legal matters.

You will be a solutions-oriented individual with excellent judgment and business acumen, capable of managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and adapting positively to change and uncertainty.

You will be an effective written and oral communicator, skilled at negotiating with diverse stakeholders, and able to build and maintain positive relationships with clients and stakeholders.
