Academic Leader in Science Education

The role of Head Teacher Science is a vital position that requires strong leadership and teaching skills. As a senior educator, you will be responsible for leading the Science department and developing high-quality educational programs for students.

Cootamundra High School is a rural comprehensive high school with a student population of 200. The school works in partnership with all stakeholders to seek high quality educational outcomes for all students. The school is fully staffed and is comprised of a broad range of teachers at various career stages. There is a supportive and collegial culture among staff.

This position involves:

• Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
• Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
• Educational leadership skills to build capacity and manage performance of individuals and teams
• Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
• Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead inclusive, differentiated Science programs that meet diverse student needs and develop your expertise in teaching and leading other faculty areas. You will also have experience in identifying and supporting high potential and gifted learners through teaching and learning, enrichment and extension strategies.
