The Department of Home Affairs is responsible for central coordination, strategy, and policy leadership in areas such as cyber and critical infrastructure resilience and security, immigration, border security and management, counter-terrorism, protection of sovereignty, citizenship and social cohesion.
We implement a coordinated approach to cybersecurity and resilience, respond to threats of foreign interference, and contribute to Australia's prosperity through migration, humanitarian, and refugee programs. We promote social cohesion via multicultural programs, settlement services, and citizenship management.
About the Role
This 10-month program includes three rotations aligned with your interests and skills, providing hands-on experience across diverse areas of the Department.
The program features vocational learning, personalized coaching, a comprehensive induction, networking events, and mentoring to support your development and career growth. We prioritize our people, fostering leadership, collaboration, and innovation to make a meaningful impact.
Positions are available in all Australian capital cities, with applicants able to specify their preferred location during application.
Key Eligibility Requirements
- Australian citizenship or will be by specified date
- Completed at least an Australian Qualifications Framework Level 7 qualification (Bachelor Degree) or higher by specified date, obtained within the last 5 years and recognized by the Australian Qualifications Framework
- Ability to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance or onboarding check
- Obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency clearance at the Negative Vetting 1 level
If your degree is obtained overseas, it must be recognized by the relevant Australian authority.
