Role Overview

The School of Mathematics and Statistics is seeking a highly qualified Mathematics Educator to deliver high-quality teaching and learning experiences for students. This role will play a crucial part in strengthening the link between UNSW Sydney and secondary schools.


Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver mathematics tutorials and other teaching activities for up to 12 hours per week.
  • Carry out teaching-related tasks as allocated by the Head of School (or delegate), such as class preparation, administration of relevant records, informal consultation with students, exam supervision, marking assessments, and other coordination duties.
  • Undertake lecturing and engage in mathematical research or scholarship depending on interest and capacity.
  • Assist in course assessment, administration, and curriculum development, as well as outreach activities.
  • Support administrative duties specified by the Head of School and/or the Director, First Year Studies.
  • Align with and actively demonstrate the Code of Conduct and Values.
  • Cooperate with all health and safety policies and procedures of the university and take all reasonable care to ensure that your actions or omissions do not impact on the psychosocial or physical health and safety of yourself or others.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Degree in Mathematics or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated strong mathematical background.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching mathematics with recent involvement in teaching mathematics in years 11 and 12.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interest in promoting mathematical thinking in schools and the community.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW's aims, objectives, and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.

Benefits

Fixed Term – 12 months, Level A - $113K - $121K plus 17% Superannuation and annual leave loading.
