Job Overview:

As a dedicated care professional, you will play a vital role in supporting children and young people with trauma backgrounds and disabilities. You will work in a dynamic team environment, providing care, safety, and welfare to clients while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality care to children and young people in Out of Home Care or alternate care arrangements.
  • Communicate effectively with fellow staff members, families, child protection services, education providers, health professionals, justice system representatives, and community groups to address client-related issues and service delivery concerns.
  • Contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of service performance and client outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a 24/7 care team, including rostered shifts on weekends and public holidays.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A genuine interest in children and young people's wellbeing.
  • A sound understanding of trauma and therapeutic care principles.
  • Ideal experience working in the welfare/community service sector with young people, preferably in residential care.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, such as the Child Protection Act 1999 (QLD) or Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act 1998 (NSW).
  • Ability to advocate on behalf of children and young persons.

Physical Demands:

  • Engage in physical intervention as outlined in Positive Behaviour Support Plans.
  • Prolonged standing and walking, sitting for prolonged periods, stair climbing, repetitive reaching and gripping.
