About the Role

The Senior Mental Health Clinician provides and supports the team to deliver high-quality mental health assessment and treatment to individuals requiring urgent, short-term, or ongoing intensive community-based mental health services.

This role involves rotating as the shift leader, providing guidance and support to the team, and being the first point of escalation. The Senior Clinician will also play an active role in developing and supporting the orientation and learning of less experienced clinicians.

As a member of this multidisciplinary team, your skills will be utilized in assessment, early discharge management, Mental Health Telephone Triage, and Police Ambulance and Clinician Early Response (PACER).

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide mental health assessment and treatment to individuals requiring urgent, short-term, or ongoing intensive community-based mental health services.
  • Rotate as the shift leader, providing guidance and support to the team, and being the first point of escalation.
  • Develop and support the orientation and learning of less experienced clinicians.
  • Utilize skills in assessment, early discharge management, Mental Health Telephone Triage, and Police Ambulance and Clinician Early Response (PACER).
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse, Social Worker, OT, or Clinical Psychologist with relevant registration.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Mental Health or specialist undergraduate Mental Health program.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in the mental health field, including acute inpatient services and/or community mental health care.
  • Demonstrated management and leadership experience.
  • Proven ability in the management of consumers with a major mental illness and in the techniques of assessment, crisis intervention, counseling, and psychosocial rehabilitation.
  • Demonstrated commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes for consumers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with and relate to consumers from a wide range of cultures and backgrounds.
