Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Butcher to join our Meat Department team at Costco Wholesale Perth Airport. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality of meat products for our members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Follows Costco Meat Department standards, procedures, and goals to ensure exceptional quality and consistency of finished merchandise.
  • Inspects and sanitizes equipment, arranges display cases, and rotates merchandise to meet daily production needs.
  • Cuts, trims, tenderizes, and grinds meat to Costco specifications, while maintaining proper fat content.
  • Transfers cut and ground meat to Styrofoam trays, loads trays onto large plastic trays, and transfers to large wheeled racks for wrappers.
  • Assists with wrapping and stocking meat cases, while following Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP) guidelines.
  • Completes and complies with 11 Commandments of Quality Assurance, Food Safety Certification, and all safety training required by the warehouse and Meat department.
  • Cleans and sanitizes the area throughout the day, maintaining proper temperatures and adhering to health code standards.
  • Provides prompt and courteous customer service to members, employees, and vendors.
Requirements
  • Communication: Articulates information verbally and in writing, actively listens, and takes appropriate action as necessary.
  • Member Service: Exhibits a professional demeanor, serves others unselfishly, and assists members, employees, and vendors in a prompt and effective manner.
  • Self-Motivated: Well-organized, prioritizes tasks, multi-tasks, and adheres to deadlines while working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Team Player: Cooperates well with various personalities and individuals, participates in a professional manner to accomplish business goals, and is willing to perform tasks assigned by supervisors.
  • Flexibility: Adjusts positively to changes in direction or assignment, able to do more than one task during a work shift, and proven ability to comply with new programs, methods, practices, and procedures.
Education and Experience

Meat Department, meat cutting, or comparable experience is required. Must obtain and have proof of Butcher's Trade certificate.
