Position Overview

We are enhancing our 24/7 Cyber Security Operations Centre (CSOC) in collaboration with the Department of Defence. The CSOC operates in conjunction with the Defence Security Operations Centre (DSOC) to protect one of the largest and most intricate ICT infrastructures in the region.

We are looking for a seasoned Senior Cyber Security Analyst to lead, motivate, and guide team members in achieving mission-critical objectives.

This is a permanent position that requires the successful candidate to work on a rotating shift schedule (typically 12-hour shifts) at a designated location.

  • A solid understanding of industry and governmental cyber security standards.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit leadership as the shift lead and within the broader team to fulfill mission and contractual obligations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to assess, manage, and report on security incidents.
  • Build and maintain relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Develop and refine CSOC tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) along with security toolsets.
  • Create custom signatures to identify, detect, protect, respond, and recover from cyber threats.
  • Participate in threat hunting operations utilizing known adversary TTPs and Indicators of Compromise (IOCs).
  • Prepare security operational documentation and incident reports.
  • Conduct management service level reporting in accordance with contractual obligations and evolving business needs.
  • Identify and assess new intelligence sources, integrating diverse cyber security data into threat analysis products.

Preferred Skills:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Advanced experience in developing, maintaining, and monitoring SIEM (Splunk) applications, rules, dashboards, and workflows.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Windows, Linux, and networking.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience in Incident Response.
  • Experience with platforms such as Trellix EPO, Tenable, and Palo Alto, or similar technologies.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate a team of professionals.
  • Relevant ICT Security certifications (e.g., CompTIA Sec+, CISSP, GIAC, GCIH) are desirable but not mandatory.
  • A tertiary qualification in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred but not essential.
  • A proven track record of delivering excellent results in a complex environment.
  • A current NV1 or NV2 security clearance.

Additional Information:

Due to the nature of this role, candidates must be Australian Citizens and hold a government NV-1 security clearance, with the expectation of obtaining an NV-2.
