About the Role

As a key member of the City of Greater Geelong team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the City's contribution to the circular economy through innovative product development and impactful marketing. You will lead sustainable practices that benefit the community and environment, ensuring the municipality's organic wastes are recovered and recycled efficiently and viably.

This permanent full-time role offers a competitive salary of $100,064 - $110,990 pa plus super.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Providing leadership in all aspects of the organics composting operations to ensure efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and safety.
  2. Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to identify opportunities for compost use and assist in building a sustainable end-product market.
  3. Leading and supporting direct reports, contractors, and Council staff in the operation of the Facility.
  4. Developing budgets and costing models, monitoring results, analyzing variances, and overseeing corrective action as required.
  5. Developing and implementing business planning and strategic planning objectives for the organics composting business.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will have relevant tertiary qualifications and proven experience in the successful operation of a large-scale composting facility or similar. You will have demonstrated people management and leadership skills, as well as a proven ability to ensure efficient, sustainable, and compliant operations.

Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check and a pre-employment medical assessment as part of the recruitment process.
