Job Overview

Our organization is seeking an experienced Lead Data Engineer to support the ongoing delivery and uplift of our cloud-based data platforms and analytics services. As a key contributor to enterprise data transformation efforts, you will be responsible for supporting data movement, transformation, storage, and visualisation initiatives using the Azure technology stack.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and related tools
  • Build and optimize data storage solutions (e.g. Azure SQL, Data Lake, Delta/Parquet)
  • Enable advanced analytics use cases across large and complex datasets
  • Support operational decision-making through reliable, high-quality data pipelines
  • Lead and mentor other engineers, including code reviews and feedback on best practices
  • Collaborate with analysts, architects, and SMEs to align delivery to business needs
  • Contribute to data governance uplift and capability maturity across the section

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, ideally with leadership or mentoring exposure
  • Strong experience designing and building ETL/ELT solutions in cloud environments (Azure preferred)
  • Experience with distributed computing engines (e.g. Spark, Databricks) and data modelling for performance
  • Hands-on experience across tools such as Azure Data Factory, SQL Server, Data Lake Storage, Visual Studio, and DevOps
  • Deep understanding of cloud-based data services, including ingestion, transformation, storage, and analytics
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Must hold (or be eligible to obtain) Baseline security clearance
