Embedded Software Engineering Leader

Cochlear is a global leader in implant hearing solutions. Our mission is to help people hear and be heard.

We are seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineering Manager to drive, lead and support a team of skilled engineers in delivering high-performance software functionality to Hearing Implant Systems.

In this role, you will oversee key activities, contribute to the delivery of embedded software features across our product portfolio, and strive for technical excellence. You will foster a culture of world-class technical capabilities within the Embedded Software space through best practices and development processes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing multiple engineers, providing coaching, guidance, and supporting their personal and professional development.
  • Developing talent and securing successors for own or related areas.
  • Accountable for the delivery of embedded software features for both CI and acoustic products.
  • Contributing to setting the technical direction for our embedded software deliverables.
  • Driving projects and contributing to overall team strategy and process improvements.

Requirements include:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Electrical Engineering, coupled with extensive experience in embedded software development, design, and implementation.
  • Experience in people management, with a proven ability to grow, upskill, and mentor direct reports.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A proven ability to facilitate teams in cross-functional thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making.
  • Proven experience in Agile software development environments.
