CS Energy, a proudly Queensland-owned and based energy company, is seeking an Executive General Manager, Energy Markets and Regulation to oversee its trading and market strategies while ensuring compliance with an evolving regulatory framework.

About the Role

This strategic role demands expertise in commodity markets, regulatory reform, and financial instruments, combined with a passion for leading high-performing teams. As part of the Executive Leadership Team, you will influence and execute strategies that ensure optimal trading performance, regulatory compliance, and long-term market positioning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Driving Trading Excellence: Craft and execute strategies to optimise trading outcomes in both spot and financial energy markets.
  • Regulatory Leadership: Represent the organisation in key regulatory forums, shaping reforms and influencing policy to ensure sustainable outcomes for the industry.
  • Risk Management: Implement robust strategies to manage commodity market risks and ensure the organisation's long-term financial stability.
  • Market Insights: Leverage data and analytics to anticipate market trends, innovate trading practices, and enhance decision-making.
  • Collaborative Leadership: Build and lead cohesive teams across trading, policy, and analytics functions, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Leadership Expertise: Demonstrated success in executive roles, with experience leading multi-disciplinary teams in high-stakes environments.
  • Energy Market Knowledge: Strong understanding of the National Electricity Market (NEM) and related regulatory frameworks.
  • Commercial Acumen: Experience managing complex financial instruments and risk strategies within trading or treasury contexts.
  • Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to influence and build relationships across diverse stakeholder groups, including government, regulators, and industry leaders.
  • Strategic Vision: A track record of translating complex market dynamics into actionable strategies that deliver measurable results.
