Learning Support Assistant Job Opportunity

We are seeking a Temporary Part-Time Learning Support Assistant to join our team at St James' Primary School, Muswellbrook.

Job Description:

The ideal candidate will work under the direction of teachers to provide support and assistance in school routines, classroom activities, and the care and support of students with disability. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about making a positive impact on students' lives and contributing to a supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting teachers in ensuring each child has the opportunity to grow academically and spiritually
  • Providing assistance in school routines, classroom activities, and the care and support of students with disability
  • Working under the direction of teachers to implement adjustments required for individual students and groups of students
  • Supporting student enrolment and transitions, under the direction of a teacher

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A clear understanding of and personal commitment to Catholic education and the mission of the Church through Catholic schools
  • Experience working with students with disability (K-12)
  • Demonstrated ability to work under the direction of a teacher, and in collaboration with school staff, CSO staff, and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively administer assessments, and deliver interventions, under the direction of a teacher

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Current paid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) number
  • Completion of anaphylaxis training
  • Certificate III or IV in School Based Education Support / or experience in schools
