About the Role

The purpose of this rewarding role is to provide counselling, support, and specialist group programs to individuals, couples, children, and families through collaborative practices that are:

  • Trauma-informed
  • Human Rights Based
  • Inclusive and Invitational
  • Evidence Based

This role involves working with clients from all walks of life to overcome difficulties, build resilience, and enhance their quality of life and relationships. The successful applicant will have experience in providing counselling in an agency setting and have demonstrated skills in individual and group settings with those experiencing and/or perpetrating Domestic Violence.

About You

You will be an experienced counsellor who has a genuine passion for working within the community. The successful applicant will bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in relevant human services (e.g. Psychology, Counselling) or equivalent demonstrated experience
  • Clinical membership of relevant professional body (e.g. PACFA - Psychotherapy and Counsellors Association of Australia)
  • Demonstrated experience & skills in counselling and group work
  • Experience in providing counselling in an agency setting
  • Demonstrated experience & skills in individual and group settings with those experiencing and/or perpetrating Domestic Violence (leading DV programs or groups)
  • Experience in trauma-informed practice
  • Demonstrated experience relating to diverse groups, e.g. Government departments & other agencies
  • Demonstrated understanding of inclusive, respectful practice when working with First Nations, culturally and linguistically diverse, LGBTIA+ and people with disabilities
  • Demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of BaptistCare's Christian identity and promote the organisation's values through interactions at work
  • Willing to undergo a Police Check and have a Working with Children Check
