About the Role

Axe Group seeks a skilled IT Support Engineer to join its Managed Services team. The successful candidate will handle tier 1 support for both internal staff and clients, ensuring prompt issue resolution and escalating when necessary.

This role requires strong technical expertise, as the successful candidate will be hands-on in resolving desktop issues, performing initial analysis of system problems, and updating applications.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent problem-solving and communication skills, enjoy interacting with staff and clients, and have a keen interest in technology.

This role may require occasional evening or weekend work to support projects or address operational needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage internal and external support requests, providing timely updates within defined SLAs, and offering tier two or three support when required.
  • Serve as the primary contact and incident manager for major incidents, coordinating technical expertise, managing communication and escalations, and tracking incident tasks through to resolution.
  • Monitor system performance, proactively addressing issues, and provide reporting against defined SLAs.
  • Oversee application deployment schedules and implementation.
  • Participate in standups and other meetings as needed to assist in the management of support requests.
  • Manage third-party relationships, including associated support requests, and assist in risk reviews and contract negotiations.
  • Proactively identify improvements to reduce support requests.
  • Investigate and implement tools and processes to enhance management of support requests and application deployments.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships across teams and with staff/clients.
  • Document solutions and create self-help documents for common issues.
  • Manage staff equipment, including purchasing, configuration, distribution, budgeting, asset registration, and stock.
  • Perform other duties as required to support or enhance the mission and reputation of Axe Group and Managed Services.

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, along with patience and flexibility.
  • Experience with Windows 10/11, MS Office, and general networking and security.
  • Optional experience in Linux and scripting (Python/Bash) is an advantage.
  • Suitable for someone interested in moving into DevSecOps.
  • Sydney-based position, with mainly remote work and at least one in-office day per week.
