Position Overview:

The team leader is a key individual who possesses strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team of experienced gardeners. This role requires a flexible and independent worker who can work effectively both individually and as part of a team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for following instructions, taking pride in every task they complete, and working towards achieving excellent results.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Build positive relationships with clients, suppliers, and colleagues, treating them with respect and professionalism at all times.
  • Ensure vehicles are stocked before leaving the workshop, and coordinate daily work schedules to meet or exceed client expectations.
  • Supervise team members, providing guidance and support as required, and record services rendered and times taken on a designated platform.
  • Perform general gardening duties, including hedging, edging, whipper-snipping, weeding, spraying, fertilising, and other tasks as directed.
  • Maintain tools and machinery, identifying pre-safety checks and maintenance requirements, and unload, move, and spread large quantities of mulch, gravel, or soil around sites efficiently.
  • Identify necessary sprays and fertilisers, practicing safe work procedures, and adhere to workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Complete job sheets, reviewing them with the office before the end of the day, and clean and maintain tools and provisions, checking and maintaining stock levels.

Qualifications & Experience:

A current manual driver's license is essential. Relevant specialist courses or qualifications related to the industry are highly regarded, and proven horticultural maintenance qualifications and/or experience in residential and industrial garden maintenance are required. A minimum of 5 years of experience in general gardening tasks, including hedging, pruning, mowing, edging, weed control, etc., is necessary.
