Neonatal Paediatrician Specialist

Role Overview:
The successful applicant will provide specialist paediatric care to both inpatient and ambulatory patients within the Paediatric Department and regional hospitals and remote communities. This role requires contributing to post graduate education, including supervision of paediatric trainees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialist care of infants admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit on a roster basis, including afterhours cover and participation in a neonatal retrieval roster.
- Conduct regular outpatient sessions, including neonatal follow-up clinics.
- Provide specialist neonatal advice to colleagues in geographically isolated centres in the region.
- Participate in continuous medical education including undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, professional development, peer review, research, and quality improvement activities.
- Collaborate with other medical, nursing, and allied health colleagues to review and revise policies, procedures and guidelines in line with national and international recommendations.
- Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
- Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.
About the Hospital:
The hospital has 360 beds, servicing a population of over 140,000, and is a diverse population including urban, regional, and remote centres. It is a teaching hospital and is co-located with the Private Hospital.

Requirements:
- Registration with the Medical Board of Australia
- Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Physicians (RACP); Neonatal and Perinatal Medicine and/or advanced trainees anticipating completion of subspecialty training and awarding of Fellowship in the next 6 months.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact positively in a team and in a cross-cultural work environment.
- Flexibility; an ability to work in a complex and unpredictable environment.
- A demonstrated interest in and a commitment to improving Indigenous health.
- Evidence of commitment to continuing education, teaching, research and quality improvement activities.
Desirable: Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Physicians (RACP); General Paediatrics.
