Horticultural Maintenance Team Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled Horticultural Maintenance Team Lead to join our team at the City of Greater Geelong. As a key member of our Parks Maintenance team, you will play a vital role in implementing maintenance programs that ensure the safety, economy, and quality of our city's parks and landscapes.
This is a permanent full-time position based out of either the Drysdale Operation Centre (East Zone) or the Corio Operations Centre (North Zone). The successful candidate will lead a crew in undertaking inspections and works, including garden beds, open spaces, and relevant park assets. You will also be responsible for leading a team in horticultural maintenance tasks, operating and maintaining plant/machinery and equipment, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
To be successful in this role, you will have a trade Certificate in Gardening, Horticulture, or equivalent. You will also require extensive experience in horticultural maintenance activities, operating a range of plant and equipment, and providing leadership to a small team. Additionally, you must hold a current Victorian Drivers Licence, a current Working with Children Check, and be willing to undergo a National Police Check and pre-employment medical assessment as part of the recruitment process.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead a crew in undertaking inspections and works, effective and efficient with appropriate maintenance programming as directed by a Parks Supervisor.
- Lead a team in a range of horticultural maintenance tasks, including garden beds, open spaces, and relevant park assets.
- Lead a crew operating and maintain plant/machinery and equipment in an effective and efficient manner and in compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Work within all Council health and safety policies and procedures.
- Effective and efficient recording of maintenance works undertaken, time sheets, and plant sheets or recorded on Councils Management Maintenance system.
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- A trade Certificate in Gardening, Horticulture, or equivalent.
- Extensive experience in horticultural maintenance activities performed in the Parks environment.
- Experience in operating a range of Parks Maintenance plant and equipment.
- Experience in providing leadership to a small team, ensuring team safety, training employees, and providing good clear communication/instructions.
- A current Victorian Drivers Licence.
- A current Working with Children Check.
The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary of $64,827 - $68,852 per annum, plus superannuation.
