Compassionate Mental Health Specialist

Surf Coast Secondary College seeks a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Practitioner to enhance the wellbeing of its students.
The successful applicant will contribute to whole-school health and wellbeing plans, build capability in teaching staff and school leadership to address student mental health concerns, and develop strategies to promote positive mental health.
A key aspect of this role is early intervention services for at-risk students, including short-term counselling. The successful candidate will also coordinate support for students with complex needs, both within and external to the school.
Requirements include:
- Ability to implement mental health prevention and promotion activities
- Demonstrated ability to input into wellbeing strategy development and implementation
- Experience in assessing, conceptualising and analysing wellbeing issues
- Capacity to provide evidence-based direct counselling support
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
- Clear understanding of legislative requirements regarding privacy of health information
