Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Professional to join our Indirect Tax team in Brisbane. As an expert in indirect taxes, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients, providing advice and consultancy services on federal and state tax matters such as Goods and Services Tax (GST), Fuel Tax Credits, Stamp Duty, Land Tax, and Payroll Tax.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional to take on a leadership role within our team, providing guidance and support to junior staff while maintaining and developing relationships with existing clients. You will be responsible for identifying opportunities to add value to our clients' businesses, developing new client relationships, and assisting with training and development of the indirect tax team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice and consultancy services on indirect tax matters
  • Act as a primary point of contact for key clients and manage client relationships
  • Collaborate with the tax team and across the BDO business to deliver exceptional results
  • Maintain and develop relationships with existing clients, identifying opportunities to add value
  • Develop new client relationships and identify opportunities to acquire new work
  • Assist with training and development of the indirect tax team
Requirements
  • 6+ years' experience in either GST or state taxes
  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Business, or Law
  • Demonstrated experience working in a Professional Services, Legal firm, state-based Revenue Office, or the ATO
  • Excellent client advisory and communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively as part of a team
  • Ability to lead and mentor junior staff
