As an Engineering Lead, you will assume leadership duties within the Health Hub (HWEB) squad. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, your role will involve guiding a team of engineers while managing all development activities necessary to deliver technological solutions. You will focus on delivery, viewing projects through a product lens, and promoting a culture of best practices across technology. Your responsibilities will include leading the resolution of technical development challenges and ensuring that system specifications align with solution architecture, all while empowering your team to achieve their objectives. With Medibank's vision for 2030, the Digital team is engaged in remarkable projects involving modularization, rearchitecture, and the integration of new technologies into their tech stack.
Key Responsibilities:
- Directly manage a team of up to 8 engineers.
- Design and develop software, including application design, coding, testing, deployment, and configuration.
- Translate product management expectations into fully developed functionalities that meet customer needs.
- Facilitate production support capabilities such as logging, monitoring, and alerting.
- Design and develop components to support architectural testing patterns using best practices and design patterns.
- Oversee recruitment and management of the team, focusing on leadership, mentoring, and career development.
- Collaborate with other Engineering Leads to enhance ways of working and share best practices.
- Conduct annual performance and development reviews for all direct reports.
- Build and maintain partnerships within the business to foster collaboration with external stakeholders.
- Champion and enhance ways of working across the team.
Required Skills:
- Demonstrated experience in software design and implementation leadership.
- Several years of leadership experience or proven capability in a similar role.
- Proficient in using React and Java or comparable programming languages.
- Experience working in an agile team utilizing Scrum or Kanban methodologies.
- Prior experience within the scaled agile framework (SAFe) is highly valued.
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.
- Strong knowledge of AWS Services.
- Experience or exposure to AEM is advantageous but not mandatory.
