Senior Housing Officer Position Summary

This role plays a crucial part in delivering timely, coordinated multi-agency assistance to individuals and families experiencing or at risk of homelessness. The position supports the department's efforts to ensure that those in need receive the necessary support and services.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Provide sensitive and effective assistance to customers experiencing homelessness or transitioning from supported accommodation, understanding their specific housing needs.
  • Approve high and very high need social housing applications and transfers, quality-assuring application assessments.
  • Develop strong relationships with stakeholders to improve customer outcomes and processes, manage formal complaints, and facilitate resolutions.
  • Supervise team activities, exercising delegation as required, including monitoring performance, workload management, addressing operational issues, and reporting.
  • Primarily work in the field, meeting with customers who are rough sleeping, handling changeable and volatile conditions that require varying degrees of vigilance and risk management.
  • Lead in establishing and maintaining a workplace safety culture, ensuring all policies and practices concerning Workplace Health and Safety are applied and integrated into day-to-day operations.

  • Demonstrate strong skills, knowledge, and expertise in service delivery.
