We are seeking a skilled metal fabricator to join our team. As a key member of our engineering and construction services, you will be responsible for fabricating and installing metal components and structures.

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A Trade Certificate or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience as a Metal Fabricator
  • Knowledge of engineering design and manufacturing procedures
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints
  • Proficiency with metal fabrication tools including shears, rollers, flame cutters, and drill presses

Your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Reading and interpreting engineering blueprints, fabricating metal components or structures, and performing quality checks on finished products
  • Fabricating and assembling structural metal products, such as framework or shells for machinery, ovens, tanks, stacks, and metal parts according to job order, verbal instructions, and blueprints
  • Sets up and operates fabricating machines, such as machine tools associated with fabricating shops - radial drill press, end mill and edge planer, brakes, shears and flame cutters, torches and metal cutting machines

You will perform tasks such as:

  • Measuring and marking out cutting and bending lines, verifying dimensions and product design specifications before commencing with cutting work
  • Cutting marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame cutting torches and metal cutting machines
  • Shaping and bending metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools, and by heating and hammering
  • Aligning parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments
  • Joining metal sections using various welding techniques, bolting, and riveting
  • Examining welds for width of bead, penetration, and precision
  • Finishing products by cleaning, polishing, filing, and bathing in acidic solutions
  • Cleaning and smoothing welds by filing, chiselling, and grinding
  • Performing quality checks on completed products, testing products for their functionality, and completing job reports
