Job Overview

The Regional Finance Director will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial strategy of our client, a local government entity based in picturesque Hughenden. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality financial reports, driving budget development, and ensuring compliance with Australian Standards and Qld legislation.

This is an excellent opportunity to leverage your expertise in accounting systems, budget development, and risk management. You will work closely with stakeholders to develop sustainable solutions, improve quality systems, and enhance performance reporting.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced finance professional to join our team as a Regional Finance Director. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and maintaining comprehensive financial models and forecasts
  • Preparing annual budgets, operating and capital expenditure reports, and quarterly reviews
  • Ensuring compliance with Australian Accounting Standards, Qld legislation, and audit requirements
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders to drive business growth and improvement initiatives
Essential Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • In-depth knowledge of accounting systems, Australian Accounting Standards, and reporting requirements
  • Proven experience in budget development and accounting practices, compliant with Australian Standards and Qld legislation and audit requirements
  • Advanced Excel skills, familiarity with Microsoft Office, and ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of corporate and other programs used by Council
  • Demonstrated ability to meet and manage competing priorities and deadlines while solving complex problems and developing sustainable solutions for Council

  • A base salary: $120,000 per annum, negotiable in line with skills, experience, and qualifications
  • 12% Superannuation (based on a 6% employee contribution)
  • 5 weeks Annual leave with 17.5% Leave Loading
