About the Role

Randstad is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Production Manager to join one of our esteemed manufacturing clients in North West Melbourne. This exciting opportunity offers a competitive salary package, upwards of $110k + super, depending on experience.

As a Production Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a team of 30+ employees, including a Senior Supervisor and an Administration Manager. You will be expected to have a strong technical background, preferably in mechanical engineering, and proven experience managing a similar-sized workforce in the manufacturing or production industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure a Safe Working Environment
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage the manufacturing processes to ensure efficient and profitable production, meeting established profit, quality, time frames, and budget outcomes.
  • Develop and enhance the production team's capabilities, contributing to business performance and results.
Key Performance Indicators
  • Monitor production targets (KPIs) and conduct regular meetings with shift supervisors to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Resolve problematic orders and provide constructive feedback on production, loading, and operational matters.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including engineers, technicians, maintenance teams, logistics carriers, and key decision-makers.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, ideally mechanical engineering.
  • At least five years of direct experience in a production management role, within a manufacturing, industrial, or similar environment, with a wide range of related knowledge on manufacturing processes.
  • Minimum 2 years of direct operational team management experience.
  • Working understanding of production planning, scheduling, and procurement.
