Finance Officer Job Overview

The role of Finance Officer is a critical component in ensuring the smooth operation of core financial and payroll processes that underpin an organisation's mission of safe railways for Australia.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Undertake comprehensive accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled in line with organisational standards.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation to effectively undertake end-to-end fortnightly payroll.
  • Respond to a wide range of queries from staff in a timely and supportive manner.
  • Support the efficient onboarding of new staff.
  • Manage the corporate credit card function by reconciling statements, issuing cards and maintaining complete records for audit purposes.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts on both monthly and annual cycles to ensure accuracy and compliance with Australian Accounting Standards.
  • Contribute to revenue processes by raising invoices, managing debtors, and supporting revenue collection activities across the organisation.
  • Assist in preparing periodic GST, FBT, and other statutory returns while providing guidance on related queries to employees at all levels.
  • Participate in year-end financial procedures under the direction of senior finance staff.
