Materials Handler

As a key player in the warehouse operations, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and accurate flow of materials. This hands-on role involves verifying inventory items upon receipt, reporting discrepancies, managing storage and preservation, conducting regular cycle counts, and coordinating timely delivery and issuing of materials.

• Receive goods from trucks, unload, and verify quantities against documentation for accuracy;
• Pick warehouse inventory items from shelves, bins, racks, yards, laydowns or offsite storage locations;
• Prepare and pack items to fill work orders or requests for materials and distribute items to departments or individuals;
• Ensure all inventory items are stored properly, correctly labelled and binned in the correct storage location;
• Load and unload trucks;
• Perform physical cyclic stocktaking at all warehouse and laydown locations;
• Conduct daily equipment pre-start checks on materials handling equipment;
• Operate forklifts to unload trucks and transport stored items from warehouse to required locations; and
• Handle, store, and segregate hazardous and dangerous goods during storage and deliveries.

• A certificate in Warehouse Management would be advantageous;
• Forklift and HR drivers license would be desirable;
• Demonstrated experience in warehouse stores;
• Understanding storage of hazardous materials and chemicals;
• Good interpersonal and communication skills;
• Working knowledge of computerised ordering systems; and
• Knowledge of SAP would be advantageous.
