**Job Opportunity**

We are seeking a specialist to contribute expertise in integrating advanced technologies into Uncrewed Aerial Systems (UAS) and their subsequent inclusion in flight test experimentation at Defence Trials.

This position involves working collaboratively with the research team and partners on experimental system design, payload integration, airworthiness management, facility operation, and participation in flight trials.

**About this Role**

The Applied Aerial Autonomy Trials and Integration Lead will deliver scientific outcomes and informed advice to enhance UAS capability in challenging environments. The role draws on significant demonstrated experience in real-world experimentation and electro-mechanical integration of systems.

**Key Responsibilities**

- Collaborate with the AA research team and partners on experimental system design
- Design and integrate experimental payloads and equipment onto platforms
- Manage airworthiness of aerial systems and swarms consistent with Defence aviation requirements
- Assist in managing and operating integration and manufacturing facilities
- Participate in and support flight trials at Defence ranges

**Skills and Qualifications**

- Well-developed skills in trials planning, management, and execution
- Experience in managing operations of an integration facility
- Experience working with autonomous platforms, including electronic design and integration, mechanical rapid prototyping, and software development
- Familiarity with UAS topologies and subsystems
- A record of successful delivery of S&T projects;
- Strong working relationships with collaborations in government, industry, academia, and international government agency partners

**Working Conditions**

Research is focused on developing and demonstrating capabilities to extend autonomous systems operations into more challenging environments. The outcomes inform ADF acquisition decisions and concept exploration programs.
