About Our Cancer Care Nurse Role

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Consultant to join our team at Northern Beaches Hospital. This is a part-time position (0.8 FTE) for a 3-year contract.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership that facilitates the ongoing development of clinical practice, reflecting the McGrath Model of Care and cancer services. They will supervise and coordinate patient care for patients receiving treatment at our hospital, ensuring safe and high-quality patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a role model and expert clinician in services to patients with gastrointestinal cancer.
  • Engage directly with patients to assist in planning and navigating their investigations and treatments, supportive care, and referral to required services.
  • Provide expert clinical advice to patients, family members, and other health professionals involved in the patient's care.
  • Support the delivery of multidisciplinary care for inpatients and outpatients, including attendance at Multidisciplinary Meetings (MDMs).
  • Coordinate education for patients and carers.
  • Leadership role in the development and provision of evidence-based nursing clinical practice.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse.
  • Bachelor of Science (Nursing) or equivalent.
  • Postgraduate qualification in the speciality field.
  • At least 5 years full-time post-registration experience and at least 3 years' clinical experience in oncology, palliative care, or cancer stream-specific nursing.
